Innovative Products
In my travels I look for companies that demonstrate a commitment to building technology, energy efficiency and social responsibility. When making choices about products and vendors, I encourage you to consider more factors than price. Below are some companies that produce excellent products and have a proven commitment to educating builders, supporting new research, and being corporate leaders in social and environmental responsibility.

  • Georgia Pacific
Georgia Pacific is an industry leader and innovator in the market of paperless gypsum and wood I beams.
  • Their DensArmor Plus® paperless interior drywall is a highly mold-resistant interior gypsum panel. It features a glass-mat surface on both the front and the back for excellent interior protection from moisture. DensArmor Plus panels are an ideal replacement for paper-faced greenboard.
  • The XJ 85™ Wood I Beam™ joist has strategically located openings that facilitate proper placement of ductwork, inside the conditioned envelope.
  • Whirlpool
Whirlpool has been an active Energy Star partner since 1998. They currently manufacture more than 500 Energy Star qualified products. The company’s long-term commitment to manufacturing and marketing resource-efficient appliances was recognized with special Energy Star Sustained Excellence Awards in 2006 and 2007.
  • Dupont
With more than 30 years of residential performance on millions of homes, DuPont™ Tyvek® HomeWrap® is the world’s leading housewrap. It has the optimum balance of properties for superior performance against the elements. They also have the most extensive nationwide networks of specialist trained to provide all levels of technical assistance across a broad spectrum of topics.
  • Andersen Windows
Andersen has been making windows for more than 100 years. Their product quality and focus on innovation is one of the best in the industry. This company had dramatically expanded their product offerings to include most market segments.
  • Eldorado Battens
Eldorado Battens manufactures corrugated plastic battens for roofs and walls. Their fluted plastic battens allow for better air circulation, improved drying and easier installation. This product is one of the most exciting innovations in managing rain and improving customer satisfaction through reduced callbacks.
  • Icynene Insulation System
Icynene Insulation is an open cell foam product that combines high quality insulation with the classic air sealing benefits of spray foam. I recommend using this product in applications where it is difficult to use standard batt or spray fiber systems.
  • Venmar Ventilation
Venmar Ventilation has been providing high quality products for over 25 years. They have pioneered several innovative strategies for energy recovery and filtration. They have an extensive line of products for all sectors of the building industry.
